V I K I N G  A X E

This axe is made from a casting of the original find which was made in the south of Norway. The axe must have been used in the period between 950 and 1250 AD, during the Viking Age or the early Middle Ages.

It is not clear for what purpose the axe was made, but its elegant dimensions suggest that it was most likely an ornament. May be substituted with a battle axe from Nøtterøy, Vestfold.

The original is placed in Vestfold countys Museum in Tønsberg.
Blade of bronze.

6" wide.
