This church were built at Fortun in Sogn, but was pulled down and purchased privately by Consul F. Gade. It was then transported from Fortun in Sogn and re-erected on his estate at Fantoft near Bergen, whereupon it was painstakingly restored in the 1870´s. In 1994 the Fantoft (Fortun) stave church burned down and was completely destroyed. After the fatal fire in 1994, there was a strong desire to build a new copy of the church, and this work was finished in 1997. Fantoft Stave Church is located near Bergen. |
