PICTURES from GLOMFJORD

The blue-green snout of Norway´s second-largest glacier Engenbreen is an impressive sight, stretching all the way down from the mountain massif on the southern side of Holandsfjorden. You can reach the glacier by shuttle boat across Holandsfjorden from Holand or Braset.

To reach the mountains, exit road Rv17 at Fykanbergene and drive the 9 km to Namnlaushøgda, where you will find a wonderful hiking terrain with marked trails, grottos and fishing waters.

During the winter the skilift is open and, with fine alpine slopes, there are good opportunities for cross- country skiing in the mountains.

The Coastal Steamer (Hurtigruten) has daily departures at Ørnes. The Coastal Route passes through rich natural scenery and fascinating small communities. Meløy´s coast includes more than 700 islands of various sizes.
