 Stjørdalselva River

Stjørdalselva River is a 70-kilometre long river that reaches from near the Norwegian - Swedish border down the Stjørdalen valley through Meråker and Stjørdal before entering the Trondheimsfjord. The mouth is located between the villages of Stjørdalshalsen and Hell just south of Trondheim Airport, Værnes. The mouth of the river was moved to allow the runway to expand into the delta.

Stjørdalselva River is one of the best salmon rivers in Central Norway. Every year it is taken large amounts of small salmon and large salmon keeps a size of 6-15 kg. Salmon Fishing in Stjørdalselva River has a long tradition, which among other English nobles exercised their noble sport in much of the river all the way back to the mid 1800s.

The European route E14 highway and the Meråker Line railway follow the river from its source the entire length of the river.
