 Oslofjord

Løvøya island is located outside Falkensten in Horten. On Løvøya, the 1200-tall church, Løvøy Chapel, is home to St. Olav´s Well, which was one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Eastern Norway in Catholic times. It was said that the water in the well could cure disease. The church was restored in 1950.

The original Løvøysund bridge was also built in the early 1940s. In 1995 a new concrete bridge was cast. Løvøya also houses Løvøya Båthavn and Løvøy Camping. Vadfiskerstua grill and kiosk was built in the 1930s and was long driven by Motorførernes Avholdsforbund. The kiosk is now part of Løvøy Camping. In the area behind the kiosk lies the former house manor Øya, one of the eleven mansions under Falkensten Use in the 18th century. On the south side of the island a number of recreational cabins were built in the 1930s.
