FLESBERG STAVE CHURCH

It was likely constructed in approximately 1250 AD, but the first written evidence dates to 1359 AD. Some likes to date it even earlier, but there is no proof for this.

This stave church was rebuilt into cruciform in 1735, but had obviously undergone restorations and replacements many times before this. Of the original construction, only parts of the nave exists today. The church is a triple nave stave basilica.

Flesberg Stave Church is located in Flesberg.
Stave Churches of Norway Church buildings tell some of the story of this cultural convergence.
